FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEPTEMBER 12, 2011 HISTORIC BELMONT-HILLSBORO TOUR OF HOMES MARKS 15 YEARS Nashville- On Saturday, October 1st, Belmont-Hillsboro Neighbors (BHN) will celebrate Nashville’s diverse aesthetic heritage and some of its most beautiful and historic homes during the 15th Annual Belmont-Hillsboro Tour of Homes. “Sharing our beautiful and unique homes with Nashville through home tours has been a neighborhood tradition for fifteen years,” said Tour of Homes co-chair Gary Bynum. “The historic homes of our neighbors uniquely blend the elegance and diversity of Nashville with our neighborhood passion for environmental sustainability. This can be witnessed by having our neighborhood’s first LEED certified energy efficient building on this year’s tour,” added Ann Roberts, also co-chair. Architectural styles on the 12-home tour range from the original home of the tour, the 1850 Belmont Mansion and its Italianate style to the American Foursquares and Tudor Revivals of the early Twentieth century. A number of other concurrent events in the neighborhood will make Belmont-Hillsboro a destination on October 1st. The first Nashville Fringe Festival will showcase live performing arts and will be centered on Belmont Boulevard between Bongo Java and Belmont University’s Trout Theater. Also, the annual Christ the King Art Sale will be open and is ongoing through Sunday, October 2nd. The tour begins at 2700 Belmont Boulevard where tickets may be purchased and is open 11 AM - 5 PM. Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children under 12. Advanced tickets can also be purchased at www.belmont-hillsboro.org/toh or at Helios Artglassworks and Hillsboro Hardware. All proceeds benefit BHN initiatives which in the past have included local scholarship foundations, community enhancement projects and the ongoing restoration of the Belmont Mansion. Organized in 1971, Belmont-Hillsboro Neighbors, Inc. is a nonprofit organization comprised of residents who work together to encourage good relations, preserve residential quality, and maintain the diversity of the Belmont-Hillsboro Neighborhood.
